Annie stared into the water of the pond, but she could not see her reflection. Then a smiling face floating on the surface of the water caught her attention, so she leaned over further and further to see who it was. But as her face touched the water, a feeling like an electric shock ran through her body and she passed out.
A man walking by found her floating face down in the water, so he quickly climbed into the pond and hauled her out. She revived again almost before he could give her CPR, but when he asked her if she'd tried to drown herself intentionally, she said she didn't think so.
Feeling satisfied with her explanation that she must have fallen in, he went on his way as he had an appointment, but not before he'd told her that the water was so shallow, that she could have stood up and climbed out by herself.
She sat on the grass feeling confused, but then suddenly she remembered the smiling face and also the electric shock she'd felt going through her body. But as she had no explanation for anything that had happened, she decided to make her way home.
Everything went well until she looked into the mirror, for the face she now saw was not her face, but rather the smiling face that had floated on the surface of the pond.
